7 habits of highly effective people by Stephen R. Covey gives me important ideas that I can use in my life so that I can improve my current thinking about myself and others. I learned about the true meaning of being independent, I can say that most of the things that I do in my life is by way of my own choice and that I don’t depend on others, I believed that I’m already independent as what I think who I am. After reading the book I learned more about being independent and discovered the things that I’m lacking to become such.
The habits 1 to 3 taught me how to achieve true independence, starting with being proactive, begin with the end in mind and put first things first. I realized that I’m not yet fully independent because I’m not applying these principles in my life. I need more practice on those areas so that I can strengthen my own personality.
I also learned about how to become interdependence. Habits 4 to 6 gives me great insights and the things that I need to do to achieve it. I learned from these principles that being independent is not enough because it only focuses in myself alone. Working with other people can be very beneficial, I just discovered it after reading this book and how it will give great impact in my life if I practice it.
I do believe that the 7 habits will help me find my passion and purpose with regards to my career and others, as I practice it to achieve private and public victory. I know that it would not be easy especially because I just learned about it. I will always remember these principles to guide my in improving my personal life and my dealings with other people.
Self-mastery would be my foundation and I will start from it, I will continue to practice it until such time that I can gain true independence. I can say that during this very moment I don’t have self-mastery and I have to work hard to achieve it then I can proceed to achieving public victory. Sharpen the saw will balance everything and I should also make that as my priority for me to be able to become successful in this new goal that I want to achieve.
