This week’s lesson reminded me about the importance of honesty. Every time I’m tempted to commit dishonesty, the phrase “Honesty is the best policy” comes into my mind, but after that thought there comes a greater reminder that tells me that “Honesty is the only policy”.
In my everyday life I’m always tempted to do dishonesty, one example is during my studies. Because of the advancement of technology like the internet, cheating nowadays is so accessible because the internet contains almost all the information from the worldwide web. Having an “A” grade would not be impossible. I will be a hypocrite if I say that I never did cheat. I did cheat a few times and every time I do that I feel ashamed and guilty.
I learned that to be worthy in the sight of God we should first; be honest, being honest is admitting what we had done wrong then true repentance comes in. I also learned that repentance is a process and after we become honest for our mistakes and start to repent and by gradually striving and keep trying to improve ourselves then we can continue to walk in the straight and narrow path. Repentance is a lifelong process and I do believe that if we continue to strive doing the right thing then eventually we will become worthy in the sight of God.
As an entrepreneur there will be a lot of temptations that come along the way and other unethical practices that an entrepreneur may find himself into. I’m grateful to be a student at BYU-Idaho because I’m being taught important principles to guide me to become an “A” type of business man. It would not be easy and I might be in the “B” category but because of the things that I will be learning in this course it would be possible for me to reach the highest degree of ethics in business and become a blessing to others.
