I had a great experience during this week’s lesson. I learned so much about leadership, about (DPC) disciple preparation center and how to become good to great in business and so on.
I learned why BYU-Idaho is near the temple and how it is called the temple of learning, BYU is a school that offers secular knowledge and also a school for becoming a disciple of our savior. It balances secular learning and spirituality.
From the story “A Message to Garcia” it talked about how to act promptly, I learned that most of the people don’t act promptly and it’s so hard to find someone that have that qualities. Because of the scarcity I do believe that I can be that person and take advantage of the great opportunity.
In the church as a leader, I was trained how to lead with the small “L”, the kind of leadership like this one is by way of leading by example and being a servant leader. The Savior himself demonstrated how the leadership with the small “L” works during his mortal ministry. I do believed that with this kind of leadership should be the standard in every business or any organizations. In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, members are trained to be leaders by way of callings, there are a lot of leadership trainings and all of it are based on this kind of leadership.
Becoming good to great is the one that took my attention the most during this week’s readings. The 6 concepts are very useful in any business or entrepreneurial career. Concept 1 Level 5 leadership is so important in a company to have. Concept 2 first who then what, it is important to choose the right people first before moving on. #3 confront the true facts – be realistic. #4 Hedgehog Concept talks about focusing on your strengths. #5 Culture of discipline – very important. #6 Technology Accelerator – use only the technology that can benefit the company.
Aspects of building trust taught me how to trust others first before asking to be trusted. Hiring ethical people would be good and can benefit the company. Leadership and capability talked about continues learning and practice so that you will stay capable. Achieving higher ground, I learned that a true leader should focus on lifting others and motivating people.
