An attitude for gratitude reminded me to be grateful in what I have right now in my life, often times I feel depressed and thinks that I still don’t have a real career in my life and that I’m stuck. I do believe that I have a lot of great talents and skills within me, I love to learn and study new things. The attitude of gratitude reminded me to be grateful for everything that I have right now, all the experiences in the past that taught me important lessons in life and helped me grow and stop being ungrateful but instead be optimistic for the future to come.
I always wanted to be an entrepreneur, I tried to start small business of my own in the past that turns to fail often. The main reasons are the lack of knowledge and the lack of capital. While I’m taking up Entrepreneurship in BYU-Idaho at the same time I started once again a small business while studying, I saw a little improvement in myself and the business because I applied what I have learned in the class.
This week’s lesson gave me a very important lesson that I have been long looking for. Although I already have the knowledge that I needed to run a business properly, I still lack an important element to run a successful business and that is capital and experience.
From the case study of Randy Haykin “The Making of an Entrepreneur” it inspired me a lot. I believe that I have found what I’m looking for to start a career. I learned from his own experience how he patiently waited for the right opportunity to come to start his own business. He began by getting a college degree then identified what he loves. He then looked for a company that is in lined with his passion. I learned that most of the successful entrepreneurs achieved their goal by becoming an employee first to certain companies, by doing so they started their career there and it acts as their stepping stone. They gained experience along the way and discovered ideas that they can use if the right opportunity comes for them to start their own business.
I realized that I should be patient, and wait for the right opportunity for me to launch a business, I will try to take the path that Haykin took. He is one of the great examples of patience.
I also learned that mastering a specific job is not a good thing, from the video “Avoid the Wrong Job” tells me to be flexible and continue to learn and adapt for new kinds of skills and jobs because of the fast-changing world.
Choosing the right people as a companion is crucial for success. Identifying weaknesses and strength also opened my eyes to re assess myself on things that I’m good at and where I’m not. This will help me to find my passion and the things that I love, I believed that would be the starting point of my career and this is the right time and be my first step for my entrepreneurial journey.
